The foundation is the most frequently used legal form in Liechtenstein and offers good structuring possibilities with regard to estate planning and asset protection. It is a legal entity and can be both private and charitable.
A family foundation is suitable for families who use their assets for the benefit of relatives or several families. Corporate foundations are also often established in Liechtenstein - to hold shares in companies or as a holding function.
The foundation does not have any owners, members, partners or shareholders. When establishing the foundation, the founder determines how the foundation assets are to be used for the duration of the foundation. The minimum capital of a foundation is 30,000 Swiss francs.
